Apple Pie Special Recipe Formula – Ingredients:

Instructions:

1. To make the crust, whisk together the flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the butter and shortening and use your fingers to work it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Drizzle in the ice water and stir until the dough just comes together.

2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it forms a smooth ball. Flatten the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

3. While the dough is chilling, make the filling. In a large bowl, combine the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Toss to coat.

4. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie plate and crimp the edges. Pour the apple filling into the prepared crust.
