Apple Pie Recipe

Apple pie is a classic American dessert that is made with a flaky crust, a sweet and tart apple filling, and a dollop of whipped cream. It is a popular dessert for all occasions, from special holidays to everyday family dinners.

Apple Pie Special Recipe Formula – Ingredients:

For the crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup shortening, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup ice water

For the filling:

  • 6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (about 6 large apples)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, diced

1. To make the crust, whisk together the flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the butter and shortening and use your fingers to work it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Drizzle in the ice water and stir until the dough just comes together.

2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it forms a smooth ball. Flatten the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

3. While the dough is chilling, make the filling. In a large bowl, combine the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Toss to coat.

4. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie plate and crimp the edges. Pour the apple filling into the prepared crust.

6. To make the topping, whisk together the flour and sugar in a medium bowl. Add the butter and use your fingers to work it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the topping over the apple filling.

7. Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Apple Pie Special Recipe Tips:

  • For a crispier crust, chill the dough for at least 1 hour before rolling it out.
  • To prevent the crust from shrinking, prick it all over with a fork before baking.
  • If the filling is too runny, add a few tablespoons of cornstarch or flour to thicken it.
  • To make a lattice crust, roll out two 12-inch circles of dough. Cut the circles into 1-inch strips. Arrange the strips over the apple filling in a lattice pattern.
  • Serve the pie warm or at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream.
